Woolzies Dryer Balls

Hi Guys!!!
So I got these balls in the mail to review. We already have a set of four balls that we use to help with the static when we are drying clothes but they are plastic. Which from what I have found are bad for the environment. These on the other hand are main with wool so they are Eco-friendly. Also with these if you choose to add additional scents to your laundry say french vanilla or something. You just put a couple of drops of an essential oil on it and put it back in the dryer on low heat for about 10 minutes and there you have it clothing smelling of french vanilla.

Product Description:
Woolzies are 100% pure new zealand wool dryer balls that do everything that conventional fabric softeners do plus they reduce drying time by 25%. They are money back guaranteed to last for at least 1,000 loads!
Woolzies have no chemicals at all and are also hypoallergenic so are safe even for people with wool sensitivities.
My Review:
I absolutely love these things. I got them in the mail very quickly after shipment. They work very well and they are also hypoallergenic which is perfect for me because my youngest daughter keeps having allergic reactions to something and I have not been able to figure out what is causing it. I know it is not caused by these balls though because it has only been happening for about 4 days now and I have been using these balls for about 3 weeks now. Thank goodness it has only been hives to far and I pray that, that is all that happens. All in all I highly recommend this product.
You can contact the makers for more information on their facebook page and woolzie.com.
You can also purchase them at uncommon goods for $34.00, amazon for $33.95, and drugstore.com for $29.99.

Flying High-Hugo The Happy Starfish By Suzy Liebermann

Hi Guys!
So how has everyone been? Good I hope. We have just survived the second week of school and I am already going insane. The routine for picking up my daughter is insane. She is supposed to be 2:45 p.m. when she is released and it has been 3:30 p.m. or later before I could finally get her. There is a new principle this year so hopefully she will figure this out. But anyways I got the chance to do a review on this book called 'Flying High-Hugo The Happy Starfish" by Suzy Liebermann.
Product Description:
Come on a sea adventure with HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH as he finds out that HAPPINESS begins with ENTHUSIASM.

FLYING HIGH (THE ISLAND OF ENTHUSIASM) contains a great educational lesson about ENTHUSIASM AND SELF-CONTROL.
On the ISLAND OF ENTHUSIASM Hugo learns that Enthusiasm makes the task more enjoyable, however being overly enthusiastic makes you lose your focus and a rude awakening is the consequence.
The little starfish learns how to use his enthusiasm wisely and to stay balanced with self-control.

Hugo is a little starfish whose home is at the bottom of the wide ocean. He longs to visit the real world, and one day he decides to go and find it. Hugo's journey to happiness isn't quite as straightforward as he hopes though. He is sent to a series of different islands where he is taught important character lessons.
By the end of his journey, Hugo has visited fourteen islands, made many more friends, and, most importantly, learned how to be a better starfish.

‘HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - ISLAND ADVENTURES’ is packed with life lessons for kids, showing them the importance of appreciation, patience, tolerance and optimism amongst others.

Teaching children life skills can be tricky, but with this exciting book your kids will come across some of the most important lessons there are to be learned. Like Hugo, their journey to the real world will be full of character lessons along the way.

In Hugo, children, parents, and educators will discover a lovable and engaging role model with whom they can identify.

The story consists of 29 gorgeous illustrations showing a colorful and magical underwater world.

Children will laugh at the delightful characters, hold their breaths in suspense and love to read this story over and over.

The book is suitable as a read aloud book for preschoolers or a self-read book for older children.

The book comes with a number of worksheets which are downloadable at no cost on our website.
The book is offered in two editions (a version with Spanish introductory vocabulary and an English only version) as well as in different languages such as German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.

There are more HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH stories waiting to be discovered. Make sure to read THE LAST BULLY and THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS, THE MAGIC OF THE MOMENT, ONE STEP AT ATIME and many more.
Through his adventures, Hugo learns many valuable lessons of character, life skills, and ecological alertness – all amid the backdrop of a magical underwater world and mystical islands.
The stories were developed in conjunction with the author’s teaching experience at an International Baccalaureate® School and they support the different learner profiles and attitudes of the IB PYP curriculum.

My Review:
Well I have to say that my kids loved this book. This is the story of a little starfish looking for the island of Enthusiasm. While looking for this island he comes across some issues. With the help of some friends he resolves his problem and learns about self-control and enthusiasm. I thought this story was very educational and cute. It was easy to read and easy for my children to understand. I would highly recommend this book.

My Big Girl's First Day Of Kindergarten

Hi Guys!
So today my oldest daughter started kindergarten. She did fine went in found her a chair set down and said "By mommy, I love you and will see you after school". Me on the other hand did not fair so well. I cried as we were getting in the car and then had to promise not to cry in her classroom so she did not get embarrassed but the second she said goodbye I walked out and started balling. My mother who was with us did not help the situation either amongst me blubbering and telling her that she is growing up and I did not like it, she decided to tell me it is worst when they leave home. Well that sent me into hysteria. So we are about to leave to pick her up and go see my dad's parents. How did you and your children fair today? Good luck also to everyone who has already started, started today, or starts soon.

Thanks for reading, Knikki.

Sauteed Apples

Hi Guys!
So today I got home after orientation at my oldest daughter's school and decided I wanted some apple pie but did not have everything to make it so I found this recipe online and decided to check it out. I did change somethings but this is not my recipe I did not come up with this recipe by myself.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup of butter
4 large apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/4-inch thick strips ( I cut mine into bite-size pieces because my two year old daughter would have trouble eating it if not cut this way)
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
I also added:
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
1. In large saucepan, melt the butter. Once melted, add the apples. Cook for about to 6 to 7 minutes, stirring the entire time, until the apples are tender.
2. Mix the cornstarch and water in a bowl until the cornstarch is dissolved. Pour the cornstarch mix into the apple and butter mixture. (Beginning here I added one ingredient at a time and stirred it completely after each ingredients so it would not cook to much into the apples that is landed on.) Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Cook for about 2 minutes after the final ingredient is added, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat, and serve warm.
This makes about 8 servings and takes about 20 or so minutes. It also can be served over anything. My uncle and I had ours on top of a slice of lemon pound cake, my two daughters had theirs with a brownie (I know right just doesn't sound right but it was on the side and they loved it either way. My Fiance also had an odd choice to eat it with.), my fiance had it with a slice of egg custard pie, and my grandmother ate hers right out of her bowl.

Dangerous Times By Philip Frey

Hi Guys!
So I got the chance to review another book by Philip Frey. This one is called "Dangerous Times".
Product Description:
DANGEROUS TIMES is a multicultural crime-thriller with strong women characters, dark humor and the pull of the unpredictable.  Frank Moore is a diabolical criminal who has come up with an outrageous, malevolent plan.  After a frustrating search he has finally found the key to its success.  Frank has found his look-alike, a close-enough double: John Kirk.  In the harbor city of San Pedro, John Kirk leads a troublesome life, common troubles that fall by the wayside when Frank Moore comes to town.  John Kirk, hunted down and pegged for death without knowing why.
My Review:
This is one of those books that once you pick it up and start reading it you just do not want to put it down.  There is plenty of twist and turns through out the book. I would do a full review but I actually believe I would give away to much information about the book and do not want to spoil it for anyone. I believe this is an amazing read and I highly recommend it for anyone loves thriller novels.
You can purchase this book on smashword for $2.99.

River Magic by J M Brown

Hi guys!
So my post today is a review on the book "River Magic" by J M Brown. I hope you enjoy it.

Product Description:
Aimee and Brenda, fourteen-year-old orphans, meet up in an alternate history version of St. Louis, Missouri Territory in 1822.

In this alternate history, slavery has been abolished in the United States shortly after the ratification of the Constitution in 1789. The Iroquois Nations fought on the side of the United States instead of the British during the revolution, and the Iroquois have maintained their independence and formed a strong alliance with the United States against the Indians of the western plains and the great powers of Europe who seek to reclaim North America.

While seeking a lost letter, the girls get swept up in a conspiracy against the alliance between the United States and the Iroquois Confederacy.

River Magic won the GOLD First Place Award for best young adult novel of 2012 from the Maryland Writer's Association.
My Review:
Okay for those of you that know nothing of this book it is part of a series called  "A False Magic". I am not sure if this books storyline has anything to do with the storyline of the other books but I had no issues understanding what was going on without reading the other books. With that being said "River Magic" is a story following the life's of two young women named Brenda and Aimee in history, but this is not the version of history that we learned about in school. In this version slavery became illegal after the validation of the constitution. The girls are hired by a mysterious man who asks them to become messengers. While carrying these top-secret messages they run into trouble occasionally.  I actually really liked this book. I have always found history interesting but with most young adult novels written on history they are either entangled with a love story or are poorly written. This book on the other hand was neither of those things. I thought it was very well written and rather enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this book.
You can find this book at amazon for $0.99 for the kindle edition and $8.99 for the paperback copy. You can also find it at smashword for $0.99 for the electronic edition.
Thanks for reading, Knikki.

Hym and Hur By Phillip Frey

Hi guys!
So you all know that I do book reviews and I was approved to do a review on this book called "Hym and Hur" By Phillip Frey.

Book Review:
In this fantasy-comedy eBook, Hym and Hur are a young couple who never age and have been in love for more than a century.  They also possess an array of magical abilities, two of which are either to play pranks on humankind or to perform good deeds.  Enacting both at the same time is now what gets them into trouble, especially since it's the character of Death they must deal with to bring their plans to fruition.
The prank Hym and Hur have come up with must first be agreed upon by Death, who happens to be an unruly, difficult character.  Once agreed upon, the prank is set in motion.  But then Hym and Hur discover Death had tricked them into a contract with dire consequences for all of us.
During their attempt to break the contract, Hym and Hur try to save the relationship of an earthbound couple, knowing they are truly meant for each other.  A good deed that will bring Hym and Hur even more trouble.
My review:
Okay well this was one of those books where at first you had know idea where it was going. The book is very short about 21 pages so it went through the story line very fast which is something that I did not like. I really enjoyed the story but I wish that would have been longer and went into more detail what was going on. Overall I really enjoyed it and would actually love for it to be turned into a series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wither they liked fantasy books or not.
You can find this book at smashword for $0.99.
